I love and care about you, and thoroughly enjoy teaching about a better way for your health and wellness.
So, the Starter Kit- here we go!
The first thing you need to do when your SK (Starter Kit) arrives is open up every sing bottle of oily goodness. Now SMELL. Mmmmm. If you want to go a step further, put 1 drop of oil in your hands, cup around your nose/mouth and inhale. The scent will reach your brain within seconds, and your brain will love it. Get to know those oils.
When something comes up in life, start thinking of your SK, and how oils can help. For instance, if you get a stuffy nose, Google “Young Living essential oils for a stuffy nose”. If there is something sticky you can’t get off your counter, Google “Young Living essential oils for sticky counters”. If you want to start cleaning your windows without chemical cleaners, Google “Young Living essential oils for window cleaning”. If you have a headache, Google! You get my drift. Become a student of oils.
Here are a few “recipes” I’ve learned along the way to help kick start your SK journey.
Put 1-3 drops in your glass of water. I pretty much exclusively drink sparkling water. Lemon oil plus the fizz makes a fabulous, healthy beverage. Put a drop or two of lemon on something sticky, whether it’s a surface or on skin. One time my son stepped in some sap, and we could not get it off his foot. Once we put lemon oil on it, it wiped right off!
Put 1 drop in your hand, then dab on your temples, behind your ears, and on your neck when you have a headache. Last week during church I kept sneezing and started to feel stuffy. I put one drop of peppermint in my hand and inhaled. Put a drop or two in your favorite brownie recipe at Christmas time- yumm-o!
Put a drop in your facial moisturizer and rub it on your face. Use any left overs on your neck. If your mind is racing, put a drop in your hand and dab on your temples. If you’re starting to feel under the weather, mix a drop or two with a carrier oil (grapeseed, coconut, olive, etc.) and rub it on your feet and spine. Rub it on your chest with a CO (carrier oil) to elevate your mood.
If you eat too much at dinner, maybe you ate that whole ice cream sundae plus the brownie for dessert, put a drop or two in a CO and rub all over your tummy. You can even put a drop right in your belly button. If you’re having tummy troubles, like IBS issues, do the same thing. If your child is having tummy issues (either direction!) use a CO and a drop on their bellies.
Ahhh, Thieves. Thieves is my go-to oil for all things immune system related. I order roller balls on Amazon (They’re around $8 for 6-so cheap!), put a CO in the roller ball, and add a bunch of Thieves drops. The amount is up to you. There is no wrong amount. I probably use about 12-20 drops per roller. Whenever someone in the house is feeling yucky, we roll Thieves on their spine and feet multiple times a day. When we’re heading into germy environments like school, church, parties, places with lots of kids, conferences, etc.- we roll Thieves all over our spines and feet. If someone has a sore throat, we put a drop of Thieves in hot tea and drink several times a day. If there’s a sickness in the house, we diffuse Thieves.
Raven is new to me, and I’m so excited about it. I am going to make a roller ball with a CO and several drops. By the way, you do not have to use the roller ball method. You can just as easily add a few drops into a CO in your hand, and apply that way. Either way, use Raven on your chest when you have congestion, a cough, or cold. You can also put it on your back with any of those symptoms. Diffuse it in your room at night when your congestion is getting the best of you. Put a few drops in a bath, or on the floor of the tub while you’re showering.
They call this the Swiss Army Knife of EO’s (essential oils) because it has so many uses. When in doubt, lavender. Dab lavender on an itchy bug bite. Rub lavender on a skin rash. Put a drop in your hands, and inhale when you’re feeling anxious. Rub it on your feet, spine, and neck before bed. Put a drop or two on your pillow at night. Diffuse it next to your head while you’re sleeping. Yesterday one of my kids was having a major meltdown. I picked them up, started rocking them, rubbed lavender on their spine, neck, and wrist and had them breathe it in.
This is another new oil to me- it will be arriving in my ER order this month! Citrus Fresh is a great one to diffuse in the morning or when company is coming over. You can mix a few drops into baking soda, sprinkle on the carpet and vacuum it up. Add a few drops to that fizzy water. Put a few drops onto dryer balls to freshen your sheets and towels. Diffuse in a room where a pet spends it’s time, or in a room that needs some aroma enhancement.
Put a few drops in a CO and rub on your feet after a long walk or run. One time a fire extinguisher fell on my head, and I cranked my neck as a result. I put several drops with a CO right on my neck. Rub it on sore shoulders, your back, and neck. You can apply it to your knees for a warming sensation. Put it on your temples when you’re feeling tense.
This is the King of Oils! It is said Frankincense has over 10,000 uses. It’s one of my favorites, especially because Jesus got this as a gift when He was a baby. I absolutely love that. It makes me feel even more connected to Him. Right now, as I write this post, I am diffusing Frank. When someone in the house has a fever, I rub Frank on their feet and spine. When there’s a super stressful situation going on, put Frank on your neck, wrists, and behind your ears. Apply it to your neck before bed. Put a drop in your hands and inhale when you’re feeling agitated. Put a drop of Frank in your facial moisturizer, and rub on your face. If you have a skin outbreak, put Frank on it!
Yuuumm-ooo! This one smells ah-mazing! Make sure you fit your roller ball (came with your SK) into the top of your Stress Away bottle and start rolling! I use Stress Away as my perfume. You can roll it on your neck, behind your ears, on your wrists, along your spine, or on your ear lobes. When you’re in an uncomfortable situation, roll it on. Before you take the kids to the grocery store, roll it on them. If you have butterflies in a scenario, you got it, Stress Away!
Pop them in your fridge, and drink a pack! They can be used in smoothie mixes, or all by themselves. Pack one in your lunch bag to drink during work.
Put an ounce into a 16oz spray bottle of water and clean everything! That’s right, everything. Go ahead and throw every chemical cleaner you have into the trash. Thieves cleaner can be used for dusting, windows, toilets, sinks, floors, ovens, table and counter tops…you catch my drift here. You’re gonna want to add a bottle of this to your next ER order, if you haven’t already.
Whew. Got all that?! Please use this as a resource, but get creative, do your research and find ways to use these oils and products that suit you and your family best. As always, I am here to help, guide, and encourage you in any way you need. Please reach out with any thoughts or questions.

This is so helpful! I am thinking that it might be helpful to diffuse one of the oils while I write. Do you have a favorite “writing companion” oil?
Yes! Definitely diffuse while you’re writing. You can use a few drops of Frankincense, plus a few drops of Lemon. Copaiba would also be a great one. If you’re ever feeling anxious or if you’re mind is racing, rub Copaiba or Lavender on your temples/neck/spine. =) I also just taught a Facebook Live about EO’s you might want to check out. Hope it can bless you!
